Masters and Diploma

The Diploma in Hospital Infection Control (DipHIC) was established by the Hospital Infection Society (HIS), the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the Laboratory of HealthCare Associated Infection (LHCAI) in October 1997. The aim of this course was to provide infection control staff with systematic training in the sciences relevant to hospital infection control which will allow them to provide, and to take responsibility for, a broad-based infection control service.

The Diploma is currently in a state of transition owing to the phased withdrawal of LSHTM, and we are pleased to announce that from September 2011 a new MSc and Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Infection Control will be available from UCL in association with HIS and HPA. Full information is available from the UCL website at www.ucl.ac.uk/infection-immunity/study/post_stu/pgrad_HAIC and a flyer can be downloaded below.

The following two modules run by HIS and HPA will remain part of the new Diploma and may also be attended as standalone courses: Infection control and related studies; Engineering aspects of infection control.
