The Healthcare Infection Society (HIS) is drafting the scope for our next guideline on the topic of water management for healthcare microbiologists.

This will be a NICE-accredited guideline incorporating evidence review and synthesis and the expertise and experience of relevant professionals and healthcare service users. We are seeking stakeholder views on the topic areas the guideline should cover.

If you are a microbiologist or a professional involved in estates, facilities or engineering with responsibility for a water safety group or safety plan, the surveillance of water or wastewater borne infections, or keep on top of water-related fittings and fixtures in a healthcare setting, we are interested in hearing from you.

We also want to hear from patients, their families or carers, or patient support organisations who have been impacted by issues around hospital water and wastewater.

Please submit your comments using the feedback form. Please be aware that we are not able to consider your comments if you do not complete and sign the Conflict of Interest declaration attached at the end of the form.

Please send your responses to consultations@his.org.uk by 5pm Tuesday 14 May 2024.

Please find below the draft scope under consultation and the feedback form to download.
