Consultations

Each year the Society responds to requests for consultations on draft standards, guidelines, policies and also scoping exercises from organisations such as NICE, Public Health England, the Department of Health, professional societies and special interest groups.

HIS members are invited to respond to relevant consultations which are screened and selected by members of Council. In addition, the Society will bring to members’ attentions other consultations of interest, to which they may wish to respond directly.

Please see Current Consultations (Members only) page.

The Aim of Consultations

The aim is to provide timely responses utilising the specialist knowledge of the membership. Individual responses are collated to provide a clear, detailed and helpful summary for the consultation. A high level of participation is encouraged as it helps ensure that HIS’s response is influential by being authoritative and of high quality.

Declaring Conflicts of Interest

When making a response through HIS please declare if you have a conflict of interest. Should you wish to respond in your own right and not contribute to the HIS official response please follow the links and use the existing response process.
