Lowbury Lecture, HIS AGM and Lowbury Lunch at FIS 2017

Lowbury Lecture, HIS AGM and Lowbury Lunch at FIS 2017

Dec 02nd - All Day

Invitation to attend the Lowbury Lecture, HIS AGM and Lowbury Lunch

We are delighted to announce three events taking place during FIS 2017 at The International Convention Centre, Birmingham.

Lowbury Lecture - Make Economics Your Friend

Professor Nick Graves, Queensland University of Technology, Australia

2 December 9:00 – 10:00am, Hall 1, International Convention Centre, Birmingham

The effort to reduce healthcare associated infection has used economics to cajole and influence decision makers and politicians. And economics is a powerful tool. Yet the right methods should be used and a temptation to exaggerate or present unrealistic estimates of benefit from preventing infections should be resisted. Good economics methods can lead to good research designs and good decision making. In this talk Nick will encourage the audience to use economics wisely and enjoy the dividend.

2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Healthcare Infection Society (HIS) (HIS Members only)

2 December 1:00 – 1:30 pm

Hall 9, International Convention Centre, 8 Centenary Square, Birmingham, B1 2EA

From 1:00pm, there will be reports from our Council and Committees and the AGM is an opportunity to find out more about the last year at HIS and meet Council and Officers.  HIS is entering an exciting period – come along to hear about new initiatives and help shape the future of the Society.

Lowbury Lunch (immediately following the AGM) (HIS Members only)

2 December 1:30 – 2:30 pm

Hall 10 (next door to the AGM) of the International Convention Centre

The Lowbury Lunch is FREE and is an opportunity to network with other Society members, trustees and staff.

Please register your attendance at these events via the online registration form, call 020 7713 0273 or email us at the HIS Office on admin@his.org.uk.
