About BEIPI
Built Environment Infection Prevention Initiative (BEIPI) is a Special Interest Group of the Healthcare Infection Society which aims to reduce the burden of antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) by embedding infection prevention principles into the planning, design, construction and operation of healthcare buildings.
BEIPI seeks to bring together professionals across IPC, NHS capital and estates, procurement, manufacturing and the healthcare design and construction industry to foster collaboration, openness and create safer spaces for occupants by influencing policy, education and communication.
Purpose of the Role
The Chair of the BEIPI Group provides strategic leadership to ensure the group delivers the BEIPI strategy that supports the professional development of its members and advances best practice across the field. The Chair will foster collaboration, encourage innovation, and ensure that the group's educational activities respond to the evolving needs of members, stakeholders, and the wider healthcare community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the BEIPI strategy.
- Promote innovation in education and encourage multidisciplinary learning.
- Chair BEIPI meetings and provide strategic direction for the group.
- Chairing BEIPI conference Building Safer Hospitals and events.
- Foster collaboration with partner organisations and other professional groups.
- Encourage member engagement and support the development of future leaders.
- Ensure the group delivers its objectives in line with its terms of reference.
- Report to HIS Council on all relevant matters related to BEIPI and advising on the organisation of new initiatives and the contribution of activities to the greater Society strategy.
Person Specification
The Chair should:
- Have leadership experience.
- Be passionate about education, training, and professional development.
- Be an effective communicator with strong organisational and collaborative skills.
- Be committed to supporting the continued growth and success of the BEIPI Group.
Time Commitment:
- Agreeing agenda and chair monthly BEIPI Group meetings (meeting 1 hour long).
- Provide leadership between meetings through regular communication with committee members over email, and teleconferences and arranging ad hoc meetings throughout the year, if required.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must become a member of HIS.
How to apply:
To apply for the Chair role, you should self-nominate by sending a short statement indicating why you are interested and what you feel you could bring to the role. All applications will be considered by HIS Council and the Chair will be appointed by Council for a 3-year term. The role of Chair is available as an individual position or as a role-share, and single or joint applications from committee members for the role will be considered.
