HIS representation for sustainability

HIS is looking to recruit two members to join the Infection Societies’ Sustainability Forum – would you like to join? This forum meets monthly and communicates between times by email to identify and act on opportunities to promote environmental sustainability in infection practice. The forum has representatives from HIS, IPS, BIA and BSAC. It has responded to national consultations, and is developing information to guide clinicians, which is currently under review.

HIS is also looking to recruit a member to be our representative to the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change https://ukhealthalliance.org/. This is a network of organisations which share information to address the climate emergency, including approaches to improve sustainability within our organisations, and advocacy actions. Being a representative to this group would involve attending the monthly meetings, and receiving one weekly emails.

Finally, HIS is looking for one or two members to contribute to coordinating the Infection Prevention and Control environmental sustainability network ‘SusIPC’, hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare https://networks.sustainablehealthcare.org.uk/infection-prevention-control-sustainability-network/about. This is a role with flexibility. Ideally the member would log on to the platform approximately once a week and respond to posts, and respond to any queries.
