HIS representation for sustainability

HIS is looking for members interested in getting involved in our sustainability work through several opportunities:

  • Infection Societies’ Sustainability Forum: This forum meets monthly and communicates between times by email to identify and act on opportunities to promote environmental sustainability in infection practice. The forum includes representatives from HIS, IPS, BIA, and BSAC. It has responded to national consultations and is developing information to guide clinicians, which is currently under review.

  • UK Health Alliance on Climate Change (UKHACC): HIS is a member of UKHACC, which brings together health professionals to advocate for just responses to the climate and ecological crisis, promote the health benefits of these actions, and empower health professionals to respond in their personal and professional lives. As the HIS representative, you would receive monthly updates, attend monthly meetings, and engage with the Policy Group to discuss key policy areas, identify opportunities for coordinated action, and help establish task-specific working groups and reporting.

  • Infection Prevention and Control environmental sustainability network ‘SusIPC’: Hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, this flexible role involves helping to coordinate the SusIPC network by logging onto the platform about once a week, responding to posts and queries, and supporting members of the network.

If you are interested in applying for one or more of these roles, please submit an expression of interest (up to 250 words) outlining why you would like to get involved and what you would bring to the role(s) to membership@his.org.uk by 09:00 on Tuesday 26 August.
