Call for Expressions of Interest: HIS Professional Development Committee Membership

Deadline for applications: 11 August 2025

We are inviting expressions of interest from members who wish to contribute to the work of the HIS Professional Development Committee – the terms of reference detailing the work of the committee can be viewed here.

The Professional Development Committee is responsible for the design, planning and delivery of events and educational initiatives in line with strategic aims of the society. The committee’s role is to preserve and enhance the reputation of HIS as a producer of evidence-based, expert-led and expert-delivered relevant events and educational initiatives and resources. 

The responsibilities of PDC members include:

  • Attending three online committee meetings per year
  • Contributing to the programme of FIS/HIS International and HIS Annual Conference.
  • Planning and delivering educational activities, including IPC Training Days, IPC Leaders’ Programme and webinars
  • Making recommendations for the development of new events, courses, and educational resources.
  • Reviewing applications for related grants, bursaries, certificates and fellowships.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must be current members of HIS. Apply for membership here if you have not yet done this.
  • We encourage applications from individuals at all career stages, across all professional backgrounds involved in infection prevention and control.

How to apply:

Please send a short expression of interest (maximum 500 words) outlining:
  • Your background and current role
  • Your experience and/or interest in infection education
  • Why you would like to join the HIS Professional Development Committee and what you hope to contribute

Please also include a Conflict of Interest form with your application

Expressions of interest should be submitted via email to membership@his.org.uk, no later than 11 August 2025.
