Education and Events Programme

Throughout the year, HIS organises a number of focused conferences, training events and courses.  These events are often free of charge for HIS members, or are offered at a reduced registration rate.

HIS 2018 

The 11th HIS International Conference will take place in Liverpool 26-28 November 2018.

Trainee Education Programme

The Trainee Education Programme is aimed specifically for medical microbiology, medical virology and infectious diseases trainees, and is aligned to their curricula. The programme comprises of a series of three one-day training sessions per year (in February, July and November), over a three year period. Each day is an independent event with a separate programme. Attendance is restricted to HIS Trainee Members.

DIPC Education Programme

In 2017, HIS launched the DIPC Network and Development Programme directed at DIPCs and Deputy DIPCs. 

Engineering Aspects of Infection Control

These residential courses explore those aspects of infection prevention and control where engineering criteria are a vital component.

Foundation Course on Healthcare Infection Control 

This three-day non-residential course on antimicrobial resistance and healthcare associated infections is held annually in January is a stand-alone course.  The course is suitable for medical trainees, newly appointed consultants and other practioners such as nurses and clinical scientists to gain a firm grounding in infection prevention and control.
