News: Healthcare Infection Society announces launch of brand-new conference with a focus on "Risk management in Infection Prevention and Control".
The Society has unveiled a brand-new conference for 2024 – the HIS Annual Conference (#HISCON) taking place 24-25 June in London.
With a mission to foster innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange in IPC, this inaugural event will explore the critical theme of 'Risk management in IPC: Assessing and addressing the routine and the rare'.

As the landscape of healthcare evolves, so must the understanding and methodologies for risk management in the healthcare environment and IPC. The HIS Annual Conference aims to provide a platform for IPC professionals to investigate innovative techniques, share insights and collectively address challenges; themes in 2024 will include surveillance and screening, managing risk from water, air and surfaces and sustainability.

Dr Surabhi Taori (Consultant Microbiologist, NHS Lothian) Chair of the Scientific Programme committee, explained:

"The HIS Annual Conference is a pivotal initiative that aligns with our commitment to advancing healthcare infection prevention. Risk management in IPC is a theme of paramount importance, and we look forward to the exchange of ideas and knowledge that will undoubtedly drive progress in this critical area."

Helen Davies, Head of Membership and Professional Development at HIS stated:

“Incorporating the well-respected HIS Spring Meeting and Don't Panic! Conference into this new two-day format provides an opportunity to combine theoretical and practical aspects of IPC in the programme. We are also increasing the networking opportunities available for our members, which we know is just as valuable when deciding to attend a physical event over a webinar.“
